Our RV Resort (Cactus Gardens in Yuma) has a Quilting Guild that meets weekly. At the end of each season (March) our leader(s) issue a quilting challege for the summer.
Last spring, the challenge issued was to take a fat quarter of the paisley printed fabric in this photo, combine it with any other fabrics of our choice and create with it.
I chose the three remaining fabrics in the photo plus this coordinating purple printand chose to make a Table Topper and Coasters from the pieces.
For my pattern, I used the Lucy Boston Patchwork of the Crosses and this tutorial, http://www.popularpatchwohttp://www.popularpatchwork.com/news/article/patchwork-of-the-crosses/17393rk.com/news/article/patchwork-of-the-crosses/17393
I had not tried using the English Paper Piecing method before, and as an added challenge, a block would be too large for my small table, so I’d be working with smaller pieces than normal.
The pattern consists of two pieces,

I altered the pattern to 7/8″ sides, just enough to reduce the overall size to fit my table.
I really enjoyed the piecing process, finding it a relaxing process while watching TV.
It’s not quite finished yet, as I decided to hand quilt it a bit. Here’s where I am now. The quilt show is Tuesday, so it needs to get finished!
